What to expect

How do I decide whether counselling can help me?

I can offer you a free, no obligation, initial consultation of up to 50 minutes, to help you decide whether you would like to start counselling sessions, and gives me the opportunity to work out if I feel I would be able to help you. This is not a counselling session, but more of an opportunity for us to get to know each other a little, for me to explain some of the necessary administration procedures, and for you to ask any questions or talk about any concerns you might have regarding counselling.

How long is a counselling session?

Counselling sessions last for 50 minutes.

How many sessions will I attend?

Every client and every situation is different, regards the number of sessions required. Some clients may feel they only need a few sessions, others will feel they need more, how many sessions you have is your decision. I usually initially suggest six sessions, and at this point we can review how the counselling is helping you and if you would like further sessions.

What about confidentiality?

Confidentiality is central to counselling, so anything we discuss will be confidential, however there are some ethical and legal limitations to this, which I will explain more at our initial session.

How much do you charge?

Initial consultation: Free

Counselling sessions: £40

Payment can be made via bank transfer (in advance of the appointment), debit card or cash.

Cancellation Charges

If you are unable to give me 24 hours notice of cancelling an appointment, the full fee may be payable. If you are late for a session, the session will end at the pre-arranged time.

I hope this section has helped answer any questions you may have about how counselling sessions work. If you have any further questions or concerns, then please contact me, I am happy to answer any questions.
